Stabbing on the Strip sends 1 to hospital

 LAS VEGAS -- A stabbing near the Las Vegas Strip that sent one man to the hospital early Friday morning is under investigation.

The stabbing occurred around 12:45 a.m. near Spring Mountain and Las Vegas Boulevard, Metro Police said. The injured man was transported to University Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

Three people were detained  for questioning.

Mayweather, Pacquiao tickets sell out in 60 seconds

LAS VEGAS -- You had to have fast fingers. Tickets to the much-anticipated Floyd Mayweather - Manny Pacquiao fight were sold out in just 60 seconds.

There were only a small number of tickets available to the public that cost between $1,500 to $7,500.

At 3 p.m. on Thursday, tickets will be released to watch the fight via closed-circuit at MGM properties on the Strip.

The highly anticipated fight takes place on May 2 at the MGM Grand.

The MGM Grand Garden Arena seats 17,000 people.

Early morning wedding launches Elvis Presley's Las Vegas return

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- It's been 59 years to the day that Elvis first performed in Las Vegas but for one Portland couple it's their first day of marriage after their early morning nuptials launched the Elvis Presley's Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.

The wedding attended by Elvis' ex-wife Priscilla Presley on Thursday morning in the cozy chapel marked the debut of "Graceland Presents Elvis: The Exhibition - The Show - The Experience" at the Westgate Las Vegas hotel and casino, formerly the Las Vegas Hilton and The International where Elvis performed several hundred shows.

26-year-old Kaycee Satava and 25-year-old Cameron Baker won the wedding from the Today Show.

The exhibit, chapel and show are the first permanent presentations from Graceland and Elvis Presley Enterprises outside of the performer's Tennessee home.

Mayweather-Pacquiao ticket issue hurting ticket sites

LAS VEGAS -- The boxing match of the century will take place on the Las Vegas Strip in less than two weeks, but there isn't a ticket in sight.

The fight between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Manny “The Pac-Man” Pacquiao will be held on May 2 at the MGM Grand Arena.

8 News NOW has learned, the tickets will be plastic and hard to replicate, but ticket vendors say right now, the tangible tickets just don't exist.

Ticket agencies like SeatGeek.com plan to sell seats for the fight ranging from $6,000 for “nose bleed” seats to $50,000 for expensive seats. There will also be a few rows ahead of the $50,000 seats that will be reserved for VIPs and celebrities.

Betty Willis, designer of 'Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas' sign, dies

LAS VEGAS — Betty Willis, the woman who designed the iconic "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign, has died. She was 91.

Willis died at her home Sunday.

She spent most of her life in Las Vegas before moving back to Overton in 2008.

While probably most known for designing the welcome sign, she was also responsible for the signs at Moulon Rouge and Blue Angel Motel.

Funeral services are planned for Friday in Overton at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 226 W. Thomas Ave.

Arrest Report: Stoll busted at pool entrance after voluntary patdown

 LAS VEGAS -- LA Kings center Jarret Stoll agreed to the patdown at the entrance of the MGM Grand's Wet Republic pool on Friday that resulted in his cocaine possession arrest.

According to his arrest report, there was a sign posted at the entrance saying pool security would conduct patdowns and Stoll agreed to one. A security guard found an off-white powder in two baggies and numerous gel caps with an off-white powder inside. The items were found in the back pocket of Stoll's swimming trunks.

When Stoll was asked if the powder was cocaine, he said, "yes."

The seized items were tested and found to be 3 grams of cocaine and 8 grams of the narcotic MDMA, also known as "Molly," the report said.

Anchor Bar to open at Venetian this summer


LAS VEGAS — The Buffalo, N.Y., bar that introduced the world to buffalo chicken wings is headed to Las Vegas.

The restaurant told 8 News NOW its first location out west will open at the Venetian in June.

The Anchor Bar currently has locations in upstate New York and Ontario, Canada.
