Officials: Half of goal for NHL season ticket drive met

LAS VEGAS — Officials said Thursday half of the goal for a season ticket drive in support of bringing an NHL team to Las Vegas has already been met.

The group began taking deposits for season tickets at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, with a goal to secure 10,000 season ticket deposits. As of Thursday, 5,000 deposits had been received.

Deposit pricing starts at $150 per ticket and goes up to $900 per ticket.

"We are off to a great start," said Bill Foley. "It is our hope that the Las Vegas community will continue to rally around this incredible initiative. We've seen an outpouring of support, and we know Southern Nevadans will continue to place deposits to help us demonstrate that Las Vegas can support its first major league sports franchise. We need to ensure that we hit our 10,000 season ticket goal!"

According to the group, the goal of the season ticket drive is to demonstrate the long-term viability of an NHL franchise in Las Vegas, and prove that the city would be able to support an NHL team.

"Fans currently have the option of selecting the length of commitment, from one to 10 years, and are required to put down a deposit of approximately 10 percent of the first year's season ticket price. The deposit will be applied to the cost of the tickets," a release said.
