MGM's Wet Republic Sells Out All Cabanas at Grand Opening Event

If you were smart enough to pre-book your ticket to the March 9 grand opening of the 2012 season at Wet Republic, you found out why this pool mega-party is so popular with both locals and visitors.

Las Vegas icon and former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman cut the ribbon at 11 a.m. to kick off the new daylife season at the popular MGM Grand pool destination.

All cabanas were sold out. There was a wait-list line for non-ticket holders reminiscent of the bread lines during the Great Depression. Lines stretched around the pool entrance perimeter as non-ticket holders waited for a chance to enter. With turnouts like today, Wet Republic could be the hottest Las Vegas pool party destination for the 2012 season.

As usual, security was intense at Wet Republic and all entering guests were patted down and their belongings were rigorously searched prior to entrance -- purses, wallets, pockets, shoes, everything. The search protocol when entering Wet Republic is more exhaustive than most TSA airport screenings. No outside liquid or food is allowed inside the venue, not even chewing gum.

On March 24, reality star Kendra Wilkinson is scheduled to appear.

Returning again this season is SpyOnVegas.com's "Hot 100" competition where women interested in competing to be crowned the "hottest female in Las Vegas" can compete for their share of $100,000 in cash prizes and promotional events participation. The competition is a 14-week voting competition with finalists determined by celebrity judges, event attendees and online voting. That finale event is scheduled for August 10.
