Progress Being Made on New Club on the Strip

Progress is being made on the newest megaclub coming to the Las Vegas Strip.

Drai's dayclub and nightclub is being built at the top of the new Cromwell boutique hotel. The creator is long-time nightclub owner Victor Drai, whose afterhours club was legendary night spot.

When finished, the $100 million club will have pools, DJs, and an amazing view of the Strip.

"I think it is going to be the prettiest background in the world, and you got an amazing experience between the outside and the inside will be all one," Drai said.

The Cromwell is at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road. The old Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon is being remodeled to create the new boutique hotel set to open later this year.

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Las Vegas is set to welcome the first Western U.S. Brooklyn Bowl venue in March.

The concert, nightclub, bar, bowling alley and restaurant amalgam is one of the cornerstones of the new 300,000-square-foot Linq project.

The new Brooklyn Bowl is designed with a 2,000-seat performance hall intended to host DJs, nightly concerts, and crowds watching football on Sundays.

The venue's eclectic opening lineup, announced Tuesday, includes Elvis Costello, The Roots, The Avett Brothers and Chance the Rapper.

Casino giant Caesars Entertainment Corp. is promoting the nearly-completed Linq project as a way to lure younger patrons to Las Vegas.

The Brooklyn Bowl brand originated in Williamsburg, the New York hipster haven. It recently expanded with a new location in London.

Brooklyn Bowl's first Las Vegas concert is scheduled for March 8.

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Casino giant Caesars Entertainment Corp. says the renovated 7,000-seat theater at which Britney Spears will perform will open with a new name and a new partner to run it.

Caesars President and CEO Gary Loveman said Thursday that teaming with Live Nation Entertainment should ensure top resident headliners and tour bookings at The AXIS at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

The theater opened in July 1976 as the Aladdin Theater for the Performing Arts.

The redesign features a remade dance floor, a 100,000-watt sound system, big video and projection installations, VIP table seating and nightclub beverage service headed by Drai's Management Group.

Drai's chief Victor Drai says he looks forward to working with Live Nation and Britney Spears.

Spears launches her show "Britney: Piece of Me" on Dec. 27.

Cirque du Soleil's Zarkana to Close for January

Cirque du Soleil's Zarkana to Close for January

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Cirque du Soleil's 1-year-old "Zarkana" show is closing in late December for a cast vacation and show refresher.

Cirque announced this week that tourists will find "Zarkana" slightly changed when it re-opens in February.

The show at the Aria Resort and Casino has tended to garner less enthusiastic reviews than some of Cirque's other Strip productions. But temporary closures are not unusual for Cirque, which periodically revamps many of its shows.

Earlier this month, Cirque temporarily removed the "Wheel of Death" stunt from Zarkana after an acrobat fell from the wheel during a performance and was hospitalized.

The act featured two people performing feats atop and inside a pair of spinning wheels high above the stage. Officials say the incident is unrelated to the show's temporary  closure.
