Henderson, Metro Police investigate second officer-involved shooting

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) - Henderson Police and Las Vegas Metro Police are on the scene of a second officer-involved shooting Tuesday afternoon. The latest occurred in the 3900 E. Charleston Blvd., near US-95.

The shooting happened at an apartment complex off Charleston at 3:44 p.m., according to Henderson Police Officer Alan Olvera. Henderson SWAT officers were called to the area at the request of Las Vegas Metro Police.

As they arrived, two Henderson SWAT officers encountered a suspect and subsequently opened fire, killing the person, according to Olvera. Paramedics responded, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was hurt.

The location of the shooting is far from the normal jurisdiction of Henderson Police. But Henderson Police were on the scene because Metro Police were busy with a separate, deadly officer-involved shooting. Olvera said the two incidents were not related.

Henderson Police are expected to release more information, including the name of the suspect and the name of the officers who opened fire, at a later date.
