Shopping is making a comeback on the Las Vegas Strip.

Owners of The Fashion Show and the Grand Canal Shoppes announced Friday that retailers at both centers saw marked improvement in sales in 2012 and are expecting even more progress in 2013.

According to the Fashion Show, 14 of its retailers finished 2012 with annual sales well over $2,000 per square foot. Nearly 50 retailers posted double-digit sales increases over 2011.

Restaurants, women’s apparel and accessories, along with athletic wear performed the best.

The shopping center is getting several new stores this year, including Uno de 50, Vince Camuto, Robert Graham, Francesca’s Collection, LUSH Fresh Homemade Cosmetics, Joe’s Jeans and a Disney Store.

The Canal Shoppes also reported improved sales. According to the shoppes, nearly 40 retailers reported double-digit sales increases over 2011. Women’s accessories, including shoes, handbags and jewelry, lead the way.

Neither centers has seen traffic and sales numbers like the ones reported Friday since 2007, shortly before the great recession started.
