Marriott Dusts Off Plans for Property Near Convention Center

A plan buried in the Nevada recession has resurfaced. Marriott International plans to build a large hotel across the street from the Las Vegas Convention Center but has not laid out a timeline.

Known for organizing imaginative dinners in unexpected locations, Project Dinner Table begins its 2011 season on Saturday, April 16 at Town Square.


Project Dinner Table’s signature table, which is draped in white linens and seats up to 150 guests, will dominate the shopping venue’s North Main Street, stretching from Pete’s Piano Bar to Michael Stars. An array of world-renowned chefs from MGM Grand will create the dinner’s seven course menu. The dinner begins at 5 p.m.

Origin India to Hold Fundraiser for Japan Victims

Origin India Restaurant & Bar will hold a fundraising dinner to offer support and donations to those affected by the disasters in Japan.                     

On April 7, Origin India will hold a fundraising dinner in conjunction with the Japanese embassy. Fifty percent of all proceeds from the evening will go towards relief efforts.

The evening will begin with passed wine and hors d’oeuvres, with a multi-course menu prepared by Executive Chef Kuldeep Singh to follow. A silent auction, featuring chances to win show tickets, will take place throughout the evening, and guests are also encouraged to donate what they can directly through the Japanese consulate general.     

The cost is $65 and the event begins at 6 p.m. at Origin India Restaurant & Bar, 4480 Paradise Rd. For reservations, please call 734-6342.
