MGM's Wet Republic Sells Out All Cabanas at Grand Opening Event

MGM's Wet Republic Sells Out All Cabanas at Grand Opening Event

If you were smart enough to pre-book your ticket to the March 9 grand opening of the 2012 season at Wet Republic, you found out why this pool mega-party is so popular with both locals and visitors.

Las Vegas icon and former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman cut the ribbon at 11 a.m. to kick off the new daylife season at the popular MGM Grand pool destination.

All cabanas were sold out. There was a wait-list line for non-ticket holders reminiscent of the bread lines during the Great Depression. Lines stretched around the pool entrance perimeter as non-ticket holders waited for a chance to enter. With turnouts like today, Wet Republic could be the hottest Las Vegas pool party destination for the 2012 season.

Giant Slot Machine Gives Assist in Marriage Proposal

A San Diego man used the giant ‘Colossus’ slot machine at Bally’s to execute a creative marriage proposal this weekend.

Jim Canfield and his bride-to-be, Paige, traveled from California to celebrate her birthday, but Canfield had other plans in store.  The slot machine inside Bally’s was pre-arranged to land on the words “Will You Marry Me” when Paige pulled the handle.

Canfield got down on one knee with a ring in hand and Paige accepted the proposal. He said Bally’s  will always hold a special place in his heart.

“Vegas was the perfect location for the proposal,” Canfield said. “I feel like I hit the jackpot when I met her so I wanted her to feel like she hit the jackpot today.”

What will you do this summer? Seventeen Girl Scouts departed July 6 for a 19-day journey to India. Before taking off on their international adventure, the girls participated in some local Las Vegas fun with Comedy Magician Mac King and Sumita Beauty.

On Tuesday, July 5, the girls enjoyed some laughter and magic at the Mac King Comedy-Magic Show at Harrah's Las Vegas. King is partnering with the Girl Scouts to help spread his literacy initiative, Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour, overseas. During their visit, King presented the girls with plaid suitcases full of books.  On behalf of Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour, the girls will distribute the books to children in India during their journey and spread the love of reading overseas.
