LAS VEGAS -- The showdown that will take place between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Manny “The Pac-Man” Pacquiao is only a little over a week away, and all of the tickets to the boxing match of the century are gone.

They sold out Thursday afternoon in just 60 seconds. However, many of them are being resold online for even more money; some as high as $20,000. But not all of the golden tickets -- sort of speak are legit.

“I just don't trust them,” said Chi Duong, boxing fan.

A lot of the tickets to are counterfeit.

Many boxing fans 8 News NOW spoke with said they wouldn't dare buy a ticket to a Mayweather – Pacquiao fight online.

“You never know, so it's better to rent the fight and enjoy it from your home,” said Brian Hunsaker, boxing fan.

Would-be ticket scalpers are selling tickets online ranging from one dollar to thousands of dollars. They have also promised certain seats with the purchase.

So, how does one decipher real tickets from fake ones? That is the big question.

The Department of Homeland Security said the best way to avoid being victimized is to purchase tickets at authorized retail locations.

A ticket expert with UNLV's special events said those hoping to purchase tickets should pay close attention to the following things when it comes to identifying a fake.

  • If the ticket is overly glossy on the front or if the barcode is blurry.
  • Pay close attention to barcode numbers, misspellings or perforations.

MGM says MGM-controlled tickets will only be sold through Ticketmaster and the Grand Garden Arena box office. For those picking up tickets, MGM said be sure to bring a photo I.D., along with the credit card used during the purchase.
