SLS Las Vegas announces layoffs

LAS VEGAS -- The newly opened SLS Las Vegas resort announced it laid off fewer than 2 percent of its workforce just a few months after opening.

According to a spokesperson for the company, it decided to cut staff after evaluating business needs. The cuts are for front and back-of-house operations.

The SLS Las Vegas held its grand opening at the end of August. Developers SBE Hospitality spent more than $415 million to remodel the old Sahara Hotel and Casino into the SLS.
