New High-Tech Slots Roll Out to Casinos | News

LAS VEGAS -- The next time you sit down a slot machine, be prepared to do a lot more than just pull a handle. New high-tech slots are making their way into casinos and the days of matching up lemons on a slot could be coming to an end.

The new machines are hitting casinos on the Strip and require skill and some luck. The new machines were released by Las Vegas-based Bally Technologies and they get players to interact more.

One machine turns into a virtual piano. As players correctly follow the notes on the screen, the points add up. More points means a bigger payout.

Another slot acts like a skee-ball machine. Bally says win or lose, the goal is to give players an experience that keeps them entertained.

"The goal is to bring people to Las Vegas, and we also export our games all over the world," said Mike Trask with Bally Technologies. "It's a ton of fun for us to provide these games for people heading into casinos."

The new generation of slot machines are incredibly durable -- even waterproof. Casino's can also switch out software in the machines, changing the game without having to replace the entire machine. That will save casino's tens of thousands of dollars alone.
