Madame Tussauds Unveils Whitney Houston Figures

A new wax figure was unveiled at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas Monday.

A figure of pop icon Whitney Houston is now on display at the attraction at the Venetian Hotel and Casino.

It is one of four Houston figures unveiled at Madame Tussauds around the world. The one in Las Vegas features Houston in a replica of the dress the star wore in the video for her breakout 1988 hit "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)." The figure also has the hair style Houston wore in the video.

This is the first time in the 200-year history of Madame Tussauds that four different figures have been made of one person, showing different points in her life.

In New York, Houston's figure is dressed in a gown similar to the one she wore for the cover photo for her 2009 album "I Look to You."

In Washington D.C., the figure will wear the red, white and blue track suit the star wore when she sang the "Star Spangled Banner" for the start of Super Bowl XXV.

The Madame Tussauds Hollywood will have the figure dressed in a replica of the chromed "Queen of the Night" costume she wore in the hit 1992 movie "The Bodyguard." Warner Bros. lent the original outfit to Madame Tussauds artists to make sure it was an exact recreation.

It took about 4 months and $1.2 million to create the figures. Madame Tussauds encourages guests to get up close to the figures and take pictures with their favorite stars rendered in wax.
