Local Musician Sings for Record and Charity

A Las Vegas musician is turning his effort to break a world record into a charity event.

Jefferson Montoya will be attempting to put on the world's longest continuous solo concert from Wednesday, June 1 through Friday, June 3. Under the rules set out by the Guinness Book of World Records the artist can have only 30 seconds between songs and only five minutes of rest for every 60 minutes of playing time. Which means Montoya will play 44 hours straight from Wednesday night through Friday morning. And he will also try to beat the world record for the most pieces of music performed by a solo artist in a 24 hour period. The current record stands at 139 pieces of music.

The singer has also decided to turn the event into a fundraiser for the American Red Cross. The money raised at the event will benefit the charity's efforts in areas hit by the devastating tornadoes in Missouri.

The concert and fundraiser will be held at Tommy Rocker's Cantina and Grill.
