Pillowcases Provide Comfort To Children Facing Serious Illness
Charity

Close to 100 brightly colored pillowcases were delivered to clients of the Children's Specialty Center of Nevada on Thursday.

The event coincided with a visit from Cindy Kerr of ConKerrCancer.org.  Kerr's non profit organization is responsible for more than 300,000 personalized pillowcases sent around the world to children facing life threatening illnesses. Kerr started making the pillowcases when her son was being treated for cancer in the hospital to help combat the generic hospital atmosphere. In addition, Kerr, along with her daughter Katie wrote the book 'A Case For Adventure" which highlights the story of a cancer patient, George, who embarks on wonderful journeys inspired by magical pillowcases.

On Thursday, Kerr read the book to clients of the Children's Specialty Center of Nevada, the state's only non-profit pediatric outpatient center treating children with devastating illnesses. Kerr also signed the book and made sure each client of the Center received a specialized pillowcase. So far, the Nevada chapter of ConKerrCancer has passed out 4,000 pillowcases to children facing serious illness. A member of the Cure 4 The Kids Foundation, which helps fund the Specialty Center, purchased 100 books for children at the Specialty Center and will also provide several copies to local hospitals for children affected by cancer.
