Police Release Identity of Man Officers Shot

LAS VEGAS -- Metro police have released the name of the suspect that was shot by officers Sunday.

Police say 30-year-old Thor Cook pointed a shotgun at them before they fired. Cook is in the hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. He is now facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, resisting a police officer with a weapon and possessing a firearm when he shouldn't have one.

Police were called to the neighborhood near Sandhill and Desert Inn on Sunday afternoon to respond to a neighbor dispute.

Metro says Cook opened his front door holding the shotgun and refused commands to place the weapon on the ground.

The officers involved in the shooting are on paid administrative leave. Their names will be released 48 hours after the incident.
