Man Accused of Deadly Ax Attack 'Delusional'
Crime

LAS VEGAS -- The 33-year-old man accused of killing a 4-month-old baby and critically wounding the child's mother in a rampage with a medieval-style battle ax is expected to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

Harold E. Montague appeared Wednesday before a judge for a status check. Montague's attorney, Norm Reed, described his client as severely delusional and paranoid. Montague has been kept separately from the general population at the Clark County Detention Center.

Montague is facing charges of murder with a deadly weapon and attempted murder with a deadly weapon. He was arrested for a February 11th attack where police say he stabbed his profoundly disabled sister-in-law in their home before bursting outside and attacking the mother and child in the street.

His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 12, 2010.
