Defense in Javon Walker Robbery Case Plans Appeal
Crime

LAS VEGAS  -- Lawyers for a convicted felon found guilty of kidnapping, robbing and beating an NFL player in Las Vegas say his trial "was sort of a circus."

The defense is promising to seek a new trial after Deshawn Lamont Thomas was found guilty Friday. Betsy Allen blamed the judge for allowing the jury to see a photo showing her client punching his one-time co-defendant, Arfat Abdo Fadel.

Thomas faces life in prison when he's sentenced June 23 for the 2008 attack. Former Oakland Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker acknowledges he was falling-down drunk after a night partying when he willingly got into a Range Rover with Thomas and Fadel.

He says they stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and that he spent several days in a Las Vegas hospital after the attack.
