Man shot inside Bally's early Sunday, Metro police say

LAS VEGAS (KLAS)-- Metro police are investigating a shooting at the Bally's Las Vegas Hotel and Casino early Sunday morning.

Police were called to Bally's, 3600 S. Las Vegas Blvd., just after 3 a.m. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Police did not specify whether the shooting victim was found in the hotel area or the casino area.

The man was taken to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation remains ongoing, according to Metro.

Woman who died in crash that split car into 2 pieces identified by coroner

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The woman who was killed in a single-car crash that split a Chrysler 300 into two pieces has been identified by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Maria Maldoneido, 41, died in the crash late Friday on Hollywood Boulevard at Turtle Hill Road in the east valley. Maldoneido was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Police described the crash as a high-speed crash, and said Maldoneido's car spun as she lost control headed southbound on Hollywood at about 11:50 p.m. on Friday.

The car hit a large utility support pole and split into two parts, according to Metro police.

Maldoneido was pronounced dead at the scene. Her cause of death is listed as multiple blunt force trauma.

Emotional goodbye for UNLV student in hospital honor walk to donate organs

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Hospital staff at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, as well as family and friends, lined the halls for an honor walk as the body of 20-year-old Nathan Valencia was wheeled into an operating room for his organs to be removed for donation.

Valencia collapsed after a boxing match on Nov. 19 and died four days later due to brain injuries, according to his family.

The boxing event was organized by Kappa Sigma Fraternity and as a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Valencia wanted to take part since it was for charity.

Valencia was a registered organ donor. His family, who sent this video to the I-Team, said his organs will go to help eight people. The honor walk took place on Thanksgiving Day around 5:30 p.m... Read More

DNA solves 42-year-old cold case murder of Las Vegas teen Kim Bryant

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The cold case murder of a 16-year-old Las Vegas girl in 1979 has been solved through DNA.

Metro police held a news conference Monday to announce that DNA has solved the murder case of Kim Bryant more than four decades ago.

On Jan. 26, 1979, Bryant was reported missing when she didn’t return home from school. She had gone there to register for classes. The Western High school sophomore was last seen that morning near a Dairy Queen restaurant on Decatur Boulevard near U.S. 95. Her body was found on Feb. 20 in a desert area near Charleston Boulevard and Buffalo Drive.

Police determined Bryant was abducted, sexually assaulted and killed. Now, they’ve determined -- through DNA testing -- that the person responsible was 19-year-old Johnny Peterson. He died in 1993... Read More

Man accused in deadly DUI crash on US 95 identified; 1 man, 2 children killed

UPDATE: The Nye County Sheriff's Office has identified the three victims killed in Sunday's deadly crash as 41-year-old male, Thomas Catan, 12-year-old male, Abiel Cata, and 7-year old female, Ayana Catan.

All three victims have been confirmed to be Washington residents.

Multicultural holiday fest scheduled Dec. 2 at North Las Vegas City Hall

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A multicultural holiday celebration is planned Thursday, Dec. 2, at Liberty Park in North Las Vegas.

The celebration, scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., will bring together themes of Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Christmas. Families are invited to learn about the different cultural traditions through the lighting of the Menorah and the Kinara, along with a tree lighting ceremony.

The park is on the lawn of North Las Vegas City Hall, 2250 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
