Judge Grants MGM Go-Ahead To Tear Down Harmon Tower

LAS VEGAS -- A Clark County District Court judge on Thursday ruled in favor of demolishing Harmon Tower at CityCenter.

Judge Elizabeth Gonzales has given MGM Resorts International permission to demolish the tower, despite opposition from the building's contractor, Perini Construction.

The judge stated that enough evidence was presented and expert testimony was heard to move forward with demolition.

Companies Battle in Court Over Harmon Tower

She said that in an effort to not taint the jury pool in the upcoming civil trial initiated by Perini, she is allowing the company to demolish the building because of business reasons and not because of any safety issue.

Boyd Gaming Gets 6-Year Extension for Echelon Project

LAS VEGAS -- Boyd Gaming Corp.'s Echelon project on the Las Vegas Strip was granted a six-year extension by the Clark County Zoning Commission on Wednesday.

County spokesman Dan Kulin confirmed that as a condition of the extension, Boyd Gaming will be required to make the unfinished north Strip property less of an eyesore.

Teen Shot Following Hit and Run Crash

LAS VEGAS -- A hit-and-run crash Tuesday night ended with gunfire. Police said a man chased down the teen who rear-ended his car and shot him in the head.

The incident started around 5:15 p.m. when the teen's truck rear-ended a Jeep Cherokee near Sunset Road and McLeod Drive. Police said the teen panicked and drove off to the nearby McLeod Business Centre.

The teen driver and his teen passenger got out to look at the damage to the truck. Police said, at that point, The driver of the Cherokee showed up and blocked in the teen's truck.

Police say the 17-year-old driver panicked again, hit the gas while in reverse, and crashed into the Jeep a second time.

The driver of the Jeep told Metro he feared for his life so he fired three or four shots striking the teen driver in the head and ear.

Police evacuated nearby businesses, including Premier Building Group.

Pedestrian Hit, Driver Arrested Tuesday Night

LAS VEGAS -- A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle near Dean Martin Drive and Flamingo Road.

According to Metro Police, the man was hit at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday. Police said they are unsure if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk when he was hit.

Police arrested the driver for driving under the influence.
