Charity Event Set to Help Pet Group Facing Foreclosure

Charity Event Set to Help Pet Group Facing Foreclosure

Henderson Restaurant Supply will partner with Adopt a Rescue Pet (ARP) on a silent auction and raffle fundraiser at 6 p.m. on April 28 at Tommy Rocker’s Mojave Beach Bar & Grill, 4275 Dean Martin Dr.

ARP has a $70,000 balloon payment due May 1, and proceeds from the event will assist in meeting the $70,000 obligation. Closure of the sanctuary would be disastrous to the approximately 300 pets in the ARP program that would be immediately displaced and may face euthanasia if not re-homed, not to mention pets that need placement in the future that might have nowhere to go. Any funds raised over and above the necessary $70,000 will be allocated to veterinary care for animals entering into ARP programs or awaiting medical sterilization prior to adoption.

Event organizers are seeking donated auction/raffle items for the event through April 26, including gift baskets, gift/product certificates and services.

Police: Robber Leaves Chips in Las Vegas Casino Heist

LAS VEGAS--  Police say an armed man tried to scoop up poker chips, but dropped them and ran when he was confronted by a casino employee during a botched robbery overnight at a Las Vegas casino.

No shots were fired, no injuries were reported and the would-be robber escaped with nothing in the daring heist a little after midnight Wednesday at the Stratosphere casino on the Las Vegas Strip. It was the third casino chip robbery in three months in Las Vegas.

A son of a local judge is facing trial in a December robbery from the Bellagio resort, and a taxi driver was arrested but a man identified as the bandit remains a fugitive in a February heist at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino.

Elton John Returns to Caesars Palace

LAS VEGAS -- Singer, songwriter, and performer Elton John appears to be following in Celine Dion's footsteps. Just weeks after the launch of Dion's new show at The Colosseum, John announced he will return to Caesars Palace in the fall.

"The Million Dollar Piano" will debut September 28 for sixteen shows. The return will mark the beginning of a three-year residency at The Colosseum, and like Celine Dion, his second stint as a Caesars Palace Headliner.

Elton John completed a five-year residency at Caesars Palace in April 2009 with the critically-acclaimed "The Red Piano." Originally booked for just 75 shows over the course of three years, audience demanded an extension to 241 shows and five years.

"We couldn't be more excited to once again welcome one of the world's most beloved entertainers, Elton John, to The Colosseum," said Gary Selesner, Caesars Palace President.

Elton John will be accompanied by his band.
